It is now 11.40pm Swiss time and I don't really feel like sleeping although I think I am getting tired. :/ The church bells and hymns (especially
Amazing Grace) from the funeral are still playing in my head over and over again like a broken record. Bye Brian.
This was my 1st church funeral. Last funeral was Buddhist, so the customs were pretty different this time. Back to the old days in MGS when we had chapel service every week. I could still remember the lyrics of the Lord's Prayer, just that everyone there said it in German, thus I didn't say it in the end. German hymns are actually pretty cool haha. Well there were English translations and hymns, but I liked the new holy atmosphere in a different language.
All I saw of Brian was his urn. And pictures that everyone brought of him. It was supposed to be a celebration of his unique life, but turned out to be quite a weeping ceremony. Common, I guess... At the end of the service, everyone wrote wishes on little slips of paper for Brian and we all went out into the graveyard to tie our wishes to balloons and release them into the sky. I was pretty mad because my balloon and wish got wedged on a tree branch. >:(
Today I didn't have school because it was moderation day, like a marking day for teachers. And also it was the funeral. Didn't get much homework done. :s Basically I didn't have the mood to do it. I know I shouldn't be like that, but... Sigh.
Next week we have to present a poem to the class as an English assessment. I wrote a pretty morbid and gory poem about nature versus mankind. ><
Oh the new Singaporean girl seems like me when I started school in ISB 1.75 years ago. That quiet, that distant, that "independent". I really need to get her to open up and be more sociable. I know she is, because when I speak to her, she's really cheerful. But then she doesn't seem to like being around angmohs and doesn't really care to learn names either! (Okay I wasn't like that.) And she finds ISB so boring because this school doesn't really have CCAs after school and lessons during curriculum time are kind of slack... 1 thing: She's really smart. And I'm not envious. :D Because she's gonna be a helpful friend. AHA. ^^
When 1 friend goes, a new friend comes along. Really, why can't I have both?

Just returned from the mortuary at the church cemetery. I took a last look at him before he'd be cremated this evening. Brian didn't look hurt or injured at all. Lying down like he's sleeping, although his face and lips were pretty pale. He's even wearing his favourite sneakers! Now I believe that he's dead. :'(
It was so quiet, but it didn't feel scary or strange or anything like that. It has been 9 years since I last saw someone (my grandfather) in a coffin, and well, just a wave of nostalgia comes. No tears though. His funeral is on Friday at that church. Most people are going in green I guess; that was his favourite colour.
Today Mr Geraets our Head-of-Year teacher gave a whole assembly speech dedicated to Brian and dealing with grief. Made my friends cry even more, sadly.
Why are all the unhappy events happening to my grade?!! Just now my friend Andie's house caught fire and she lost so many things! Thank goodness she's not hurt... :/ Poor her; she lives several streets down from my house. Sigh.

PS: My eyelid has been twitching so much seriously. I hope nothing bad will happen in the next few days.

So after a fun badminton tournament I participated in on Saturday followed by a great day watching the finals of the Swiss badminton open on Sunday, I arrive in school on Monday to learn that a boy in my grade had passed away. Poor Brian... :'(
He was such an awesome skier. So awesome that he had just passed the test to be a ski instructor and this one-week March break was his first time doing a job he really loved. He was at Grindelwald, a very popular Swiss skiing village, and many of my friends had gone to ski there too and SEEN him, only to leave the village without realising that there had been an avalanche higher up in the mountains and that one of their friends had been buried below.
He was recovered pretty quickly, but unfortunately died of multiple injuries. Although I wasn't super close to him, it still seems surreal to me. Perhaps he's left to go to a local Swiss school, I keep thinking. But to see many of my girl friends crying and to see the boys so serious and out of jokes made today seem like the longest day in school ever. Lessons were disrupted because no teacher was in the mood to teach and neither were the students in the mood to listen.
Sigh. Life is fragile indeed.
Just looked up at the night sky. There's only one star shining tonight. RIP Brian <3

PS: The news
Mar 20, 2011 - 18:41
Four skiers die in avalanche accidentsTwo avalanches in the Swiss Alps killed four skiers at the weekend, both accidents happening outside marked and secure slopes.
Police in the eastern canton of Graubünden reported that three Germans died after being swept down 100 metres in the Flüela pass region at a height of around 2,700 metres.
A fourth German who was dragged down with them managed to free himself from the snow after several hours and raised the alarm on his mobile phone.
The 47-year-old skier was later taken to hospital in Davos suffering from frostbite and was attended by a care team.
All four skiers in the group had been wearing avalanche rescue devices.
Another skier was killed in an avalanche in the Grindelwald First region of the Bernese Oberland. Swiss weather forecasters had earlier issued warnings of serious avalanche risks in the Alps.

I feel like using vulgarities. C - F - S.
Okay fine. I AM SO SUPER CONFUSED!!! My parents want me to do French A Language and Literature SL. THAT'S JUST PLAIN SUICIDE BECAUSE I WILL DIE. French A is for native speakers. I'll have to work like so hard and in the end end up with a 4? EEEWWWW.
And then they want me to take English A Lang&Lit HL and take Econs at SL. Fine, I'm agreeable with that. :/ But I'm so freaking scared for French!
Omg I cried so much yesterday because I was just too confused. Just because they think I'm doing fairly well currently for the MYP French standard course. :/ French A means as good as my English and perhaps Chinese! >< And doing French literature?! D: Olden French like Elizabethan French?! D':
I'm scared for IB. :S

Physics test tomorrow.
Maths semester test/exam on Friday.
English Lit poem commentary due on Friday.
Argh, such a cram on the 2 days just before the one week break. ><
Today was parent-teacher conferences, which my parents decided not to attend, so basically it was a physics study day for me. (And I'll study for Maths after the Physics test. And do English after the Maths test. What rotten time management.)
Anyway, it was a pretty depressing event with my French teacher. He found out on Thursday that I had chosen not to do French B HL or SL and was quite disappointed I wouldn't be in his class next year; and he said I could become quite fluent in 2 years after completing the French B course. :/ Oh well.
And I think my English teacher wasn't very happy to find out I chose Eng Lang&Lit SL. Sigh who cares... :S
Last badminton practice on Friday afternoon. :/ I quite enjoyed badminton! :) Sadly the season goes so quickly.
Okay back to Physics. Circuitry, Electrostatics, Electromagnetism.

I LOVE BADMINTON! And I can't believe that the badminton season's nearly over... :( Haha that was random. But yeah I'm doing badminton for PE currently, so I really hope I get a good grade for performance/skills. :P
Anyway. 1 more week to Fasnacht holidays. Only 1 week break though, but better than nothing. Someone asked his parent to write an email to the principal not to give 10th graders homework for the holidays, and now the teachers push us like crazy! Tests and deadlines all this week! -.- Seriously terrible time organisation. D:
SAT prep class was pretty boring. And I usually don't say things are boring, so you can estimate the degree of boredom of that class. :/
