SCHOOL JUST STARTED! Zdbskdjhvbdksfjvhbsfdkhdnbcsjh
Hahahahahaha. Okay so first day of school was pretty fun; we went on a ropes course and hike in the Basel countryside. Great weather, plus 31 new students in my grade so I have to learn everyone's names again.
I can't believe it; all the Singaporeans in my grade and school are leaving!! Except for my sis. Well, the new Singaporean girl is heading back to Singapore since her dad has been posted suddenly to hongkong and she doesn't seem to like the international school environment sadly. Oh well. The half Singaporean half Swedish guy is off to London, not that I'm very close to him but he is in most of my subject classes so I thought of pinching some knowledge from him haha. Another half Singaporean half austrian girl is off to hk in november too. :(
So I thought I'd be the only east Asian person in my grade. But no, there's a new guy from China and another Chinese guy from America. The China Chinese guy speaks damn fast in Mandarin omg. I managed haha, not having spoken Mandarin for like 2 years? Ah well some smart people now in my grade ><
Anyway, I haven't had all my classes yet, but so far I know who all my teachers are. Eng Lang and lit HL seems to be s terrible class because all the rowdy boys are there. :/ the teacher seems nice but people say she doesn't teach very well. :S don't know if I should change to Eng lit HL or not, because my English actually sucks. And my dad doesn't allow me to take any English course at SL.
1st French lesson with mother tongue speakers was manageable. We were discussing the difference between the word 'langue' and 'langage', which both mean language in English but slightly different in French. 'langue' is the language someone communicates in, but 'langage' is the author's style in a poem or prose. :P don't know about the writing/speaking yet, but the course seems rather hard.
Maths sounds freaking difficult. Like a pile of syllabus outline papers on the first lesson... :/
ToK was interesting, ;) some song twisted backwards and there are satanic lyrics. Haha. :P
Chemistry - there's much work to be done.
Haven't had Biology or Economics yet.
Oh and i can't believe there's only 45 minutes of PE every 6 days. Eewww I'll grow fat wth. Need to do after school sports.
Already getting CAS hours, so I'm happy!

So, school has started once more. Grade 10 now. Last MYP year. Better work hard, as all the teachers chant.
Everyone stays in the same class, 4 left and 3 new ones. And I'm really happy my class has become quieter and less rowdy, thank goodness the boys have matured over the summer! :D And now they're like way taller than me - which is pretty shocking looking at the rate they grow - but the good thing is they don' interrupt the class as much now. I'm starting Geography and Physics this year, hopefully I'll be okay... I heard Physics is a killer, but I like my new Physics teacher, so it should go fine. My Geog teacher is an old boring man who reads from the textbook, so I better find my own means to do well... Dig up my MG Geog worksheets on skills. ^^ (If I can find them.)
It doesn't seem like I'll make many new better friends this year because there're only 6 new students, 3 of which are boys who are not very smart and therefore I don't talk to. I know I should but I can't be bothered. :/ Hehe. The 3 new girls are really nice; 1 in my French class, 1 in my Food Tech class, and all 3 in my Maths class. :) Oh, 2 of them are identical twins btw, how cool is that! :D And I can tell them apart, yay. ;P
Hmm, tonight I'm off for one of my friend's birthday party. :) Don't know how it'll be like... seems that she invited the whole grade! :o But well, that's what lots of people do to show they're "super popular".
Oh, to my disappointment and horror, the Maths teachers started the year off by giving us a super complicated Maths project about stopping distances of cars, in which we have to find equations, draw graphs using technology and write a long essay explaining and reflecting on the given issue! Argh. I don't even know if my equations are correct because it's a modelling issue, meaning the data is approximate and not exact. I find numerous of different equations and the computer gives me a load of different equations too. How mind-boggling. And I thought maybe we'd start on a new topic like log or matrices or something fun. :( Oh man, I'm scared I can't get the top grade for Maths... :(

Yay yay yay. School is starting tomorrow. A lot of administrative things to clear though. Because my furniture is also arriving at my house tomorrow. Omg, everything is tomorrow! :O
Well I went for the orientation talk for new families yesterday. The speech by the director of the school was kind of boring, and my dad got restless, played with his phone and it rang accidentally. Hahaha! He's like being so immature, unlike ME... :P There were so many people! (A lot of new families) Most of them are westerners of course. Only saw 3 other Asian families? I checked the parent-student address book which the school compiled for new families, and found out that my batch doesn't have a single Asian! So that means I'm the only Asian, or perhaps, East Asian girl? Haha. I'll be so recognisable with black hair. ;) Good and bad.
My sis and I had to buy the school PE attire, which is a white T-shirt and red shorts. Red shorts. :P Looks a bit weird I thought. I think I prefer MG's PE attire. White T-shirt with navy blue shorts. Haha. And MG's PE T-shirt has more style! It has MGS written in Italic on the back, whereas 'International School Basel' is written in Times New Roman font. A bit boring. ISB looks really fun - the programme and all (and the teachers are very friendly!) but I sort of miss having uniform. Now I have to keep thinking about what to wear the next day every day. D: My dad realised a lot of girls wear make-up and he was like, Are you going to follow them? Haha. At the moment, no, because I don't have make-up anyway. -.- One step at a time. Choosing clothes is troublesome enough. My new class: 9B. :) I'll be in Grade 9 from Aug'09-June'10, which is the equivalent of Sec 3 in Singapore.
You know I can't believe it; I actually, for a moment, forgot my French numbers! Like I didn't know how to go on after 10!! D: OH NO. But well now it's all back. :) And my French prepositions kind of slipped out of my mind for a while. It's indeed painful searching for the word. I guess the thing I can read best in French now is the menus. Haha. Cos I go to restaurants most often and if in France, speak to the waiters in French. :P But I still become blank at times though. :'( Hopefully my French will all come back in ISB.
Btw I feel so short. The girls about my age are taller than me. :( And they're not on heels. Argh. Fine I guess it's because of my race/blood. :P I haven't grown since the start of the year. NOT HAPPY. D:
Looking forward to induction tomorrow! :D

Back to posting, after like... forever... Haha.
Back from my summer hol trip to Austria and Germany. :D Vienna, Salzburg, Mondsee, Munich. Wheehee. Had a bit of language trouble with the locals since we're nobodys in German. D: I loved Mondsee because the atmosphere was just totally relaxing. Imagine. A really wide lake with clear water, and mountains in the background. Always around, every day, for you to gaze at. Well for me, 1 night. D: It's a small town, with cathedrals, and a small town area with shops and restaurants. But I think cycling around in the forests on the bicycle tracks will be really fun. Austrian food is quite nice; I love the dumplings! Haha, I ate so much I got sick of them. Went to visit Mozart's birthplace and residence. Saw Beethoven's Eroica house too (where he spent his summer working on a symphony named Eroica but didn't complete it). My sis and I got a hand-drawn portrait of ourselves on an A3 sheet of paper by a roadside artist in Vienna. My mum managed to bargain to 30 euros. Sat there for about 20mins for the artist to draw. :P Turned out that my portrait look prettier than me. Haha! Longer eyelashes than usual, neater hair and fringe etc. Pity I don't have high cheekbones. Heh. My mum did loads of shopping, like searching for small figurines/sculptures to put around the house. Cute, but I thought she bought a bit too many for the first round. Oh wells. The bad thing about the trip was that I had a sudden bout of stomachaches and bloating and I couldn't eat when I was hungry. How torturous. Like I've been injected with amylase-inhibitor or sth of that sort. Anyway I've posted the photos of the trip on Facebook, so feel free to look! :D
Yay, 19 August, school reopens! :D My 1st day of school. In a mixed school. Perhaps not. MOELC can be counted as my 1st day in a mixed... learning environment. Haha. But yeah, it was fun both ways, mixed or not. So hopefully I'll have a great time at ISB. ;D Heh I seriously need to make friends as fast as possible! Need to be more sociable. And perhaps braver. :P Yes, do what I did in P1. But I kind of forgot the style and strategy. D: Haha wtv.
Thinking about P1... I was just so innocent! 1st day of school and I went home telling my parents I've made friends with the whole class! Well, nearly the whole class. There weren't any cliques, cos everyone was new; and everyone was just so nice to each other. Oh my wonderful memories of MG primary will never fade. And then for the next 8.5 years from 2001 I spent my life there! Wow.
My subject combi for Grade 9 and 10: English, French, German, Physics, Chemistry, History, Geography, Drama, Maths. Yay I'd better ace them. Or else I'll be lagging behind Singapore standards. :P
And Kenny made my day for telling me I got 88.sth% for Controle 2! Haha. And like I didn't study as hard as I did for Controle 1 but got a higher score. So weird. But now here when I watch French shows, I can't understand. I can pick out a few words and phrases here and there, but not in time to piece everything together. Anyway no offence to the French, I find French movies/shows quite boring. :/
I miss Singapore. And I was missing Malaysian food. D: Gotta get over this soon. OH! And congratulate me, I've managed to stay the same weight for 3mths+! Haha YAY YAY YAY! I need a round of applause for encouragement for my challenge for the next 3 months! Hopefully this can go on for the next few years... ;) I need to love salads as much as I love fries. Argh. This is hard. Because I hate salad and its dressing.
Nvm nvm nvm. Looking forward! :)
